Stay Well

Updated: Sep 24, 2020

Welcome back to Philip James Travel!

I’m not quite sure whether to apologize for my absence in your email inbox last week or to apologize for coming back into your mailbox this week!  Either way, I apologize!

One reason for my absence was that I was scrambling last week.  I’m fortunate not to have had too many cancellations and trip re-bookings to tackle, nevertheless, I was still scrambling to keep up with the barrage of news and the daily changes that were being implemented throughout the travel and civilian world.  Every minute is different, and predicting (and blaming) does us no good.  No one truly knows how brief or how long this disruption might last but it is indeed forcing us to reevaluate what is important.  I’ll let you define your own ideas as to what’s important.

This weekly newsletter was always intended to be a resource for you, a place to come to understand the complex world of travel that sits outside our doorstep, and it’s a place to come for inspiration.  Even though I would really like to inspire you to travel somewhere, anywhere right now, the momentary reality is that it is just not prudent to go anywhere; not yet.  We’ll all just have to wait (breathe and dream) and see what tomorrow and the next day and the day after that will bring.  And when the time is right to go exploring again, we’ll know, and then we’ll go.  And I will be right here front and center to assist anyone who needs help navigating what will surely be a mess of offerings and deals, the likes of which will be even more confusing than they were just a few short weeks ago.  Some will want to take off right away and go anywhere, just to go, and others will take a more measured approach.  Whoever goes, and wherever they go, and even for those who choose not to go anywhere at all, one thing will be universally true among us all.  We’ll be different.  We’ll be changed.  And hopefully different and changed will mean “better”, but I’ll be good with being “well”.

Please join me in taking care of yourself and looking out for one another.  As you can, enjoy this different pace, and wherever you go… your own backyard, taking your dog for a walk, catching up on some reading, learning a new practice, or even binge-watching some great new series, please look for the good around you.  It’s there, and I daresay you need it.  I know I do.

I am here and available if I can be of any help to you.  I’m open to anything you might need – even if it’s just to say hi or to talk.

Stay well.
